Fascinated by music from an early age, Breen studied piano and voice for several years before joining a local North Bay , Ontario group The Prophets (www.theprophets.ca) in 1964 as lead singer. Early musical influences as diverse as Sam Cooke, Mahalia Jackson, Nat King Cole, Elvis Presley, Bobby Darren, J.S. Bach, Bobby Bland, Little Richard, Frank Sinatra, Peggy Lee, Ray Charles, British Invasion Groups and all things Motown and Atlantic combined to forge his tastes and musical inclinations. In 1967, as singer and bassist for another local group, Cecil, he had the opportunity to open for Dionne Warwick before an audience of over 6,000 people. This experience confirmed his love of performing and started him on a long and colorful career in music.
